To ensure that the EO sterilization process can be reliably performed, there are four parameters that must be controlled: concentration of sterilizing gas, relative humidity, duration of exposure to EO gas and temperature. Chemgrator integrators are specially designed to integrate the effects of time, temperature, relative humidity and concentration of ethylene oxide gas in a sterilization process.
Integrator for Ethylene Oxide type 5 Chemgrator cod IE05 is a simil-Biological. Unlike the rest of the known Integrators, the IE05 Integrator is designed exclusively with organic molecules, this makes it unique in its kind and gives it the advantage of being a sequential integrator, allowing it to monitor all the necessary parameters and ensuring sterilization, which is evidenced in the chemical indicator by its color change similar to the reference that occurs when the conditions necessary for the death of the spores, the viable microorganisms most resistant to the process, have been reached. Its point of attack is a labile nitrogen, present in almost all organic molecules, that is, present in all living beings such as amino acids, proteins, DNA, RNA, among other organic molecules relevant to the functions of microorganisms.
As it is a sequential integrator, it has another distinctive characteristic: the reference color can even be exceeded, becoming more intense – being able to reach brown – when the parameters of ethylene oxide concentration, temperature, time and relative humidity exceed the conditions defined for the color change (the chosen point represents the equivalent of the point of death of a population of Bacillus Subtilis spores 1 x 106 UF). In other words, if the sterilization conditions are exceeded, the reaction does not stop and the color change continues to develop. Therefore, once the sterilization parameters have been reached (orange reference color), if the load continues in contact with the sterilizing agent, the integrator can reach a brown color.
Our IE05 integrating strip can be saved as a record of the sterilization cycle, since the color change is not reversed over time, the final color reached during the process will be preserved, and can range from orange (reference point) to the color brown.
The initial color of the indicator turns gradually to yellow ochre in the presence of these four conditions, providing immediate visual evidence if those necessary sterilization conditions have been reached during the cycle. A reference color represents the equivalent to the point of death of a population of spores Bacillus Subtilis 1 x 106 CFU. The most recent scientific papers show that the sterilization conditions for which Chemgrator´s EO integrators were designed are sufficient to sterilize materials and instruments even when high levels of contamination are present.
